Real Madrid will reportedly let Cristiano Ronaldo join Juventus – on one condition.
The Portuguese superstar is the subject of an £88million bid from the Serie A champions and has reportedly already agreed terms.
But according to the Spanish press, Real Madrid will insist that the player himself makes it clear he wants to leave.
The club do not want to be blamed for his departure after nine trophy-laden years in the Spanish capital.
They expect Ronaldo to hold a press conference during which he will declare his desire to seek a fresh challenge in Italy.
The 33-year-old has won four Champions League trophies since joining the club from Manchester United in 2009.
And Ronaldo will be “eternally grateful” to Real Madrid if he decides to move on, according to his agent.
Jorge Mendes refused to confirm whether or not Ronaldo has decided to leave the Bernabeu, but said it would be a “new challenge” if the Portugal superstar did move on.
He told Portuguese newspaper Record: “If this happens it will simply be a new stage, a new challenge in his brilliant career.
“If Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Real Madrid, he will be eternally grateful to the club, the president, all the directors, the medical staff, all the staff without exception, as well as all the Madrid fans around the world.”
