Chelsea want to loan out Kasey Palmer again but new Derby boss Frank Lampard hasn’t yet decided whether to ask the midfield back.
Palmer, 21, joined Championship County on loan in January from Stamford Bridge.
He made 16 appearances, including two goals, but only two were starts under Gary Rowett.
Now Palmer is due to be loaned out again but successor Lampard is still considering his options after taking charge of training for the first time last week.
It could open the door for other interested teams including Norwich after Palmer impressed two seasons ago helping Huddersfield to promotion.
But Lampard has made up his mind and is after Brentford forward Florian Jozefzoon, 27, who made 43 appearances last season, scoring seven times
Meanwhile, Brighton have made an enquiry for Derby keeper Scott Carson which Lampard has firmly knocked back.
The shot-stopper, capped four times by England, claimed to have hit his best ever form as he helped Derby into the play-offs.
It has sparked interest from Premier League Brighton but Carson is under contract until 2020 at Pride Park.
New boss Lampard is determined to keep him and wants to send a strong message out to Carson’s suitors.
But Lampard is open to selling £11million-rated top scorer Matej Vydra to raise funds with Leeds keen.
