All in all it was a pretty frustrating night for Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portugal international, playing in what will likely be his final World Cup, crashed out of the competition thanks to two great goals from Edinson Cavani, as Uruguay booked their place in the quarters.
Paris Saint-Germain forward Cavani opened the scoring for his nation before Pepe levelled the scores after the break. But Cavani had the final say, despite late pressure from the European outfit.
Ricardo Quaresma looked increasingly dangerous as the match reached its latter stages, and had a brilliant chance to get a ball in the box in stoppage time.
But the Portugal international fell to the ground before he could whip in a cross, and immediately gestured to the referee that he had been fouled.
The match official, Cesar Arturo Ramos, was having none of it however, and quickly waved play on, prompting Quaresma to sprint over to him in an aggressive manner.
Ronaldo did the same thing, and could be seen shouting something also.
It’s not 100 per cent clear what the Real Madrid forward said, but some social media users watching the action appear to have a good idea.
And it’s not surprising that what he allegedly said earned him a yellow card.
