German side Mainz have turned down an offer from an English club for Arsenal target Jean-Philippe Gbamin.
Gbamin has attracted interest from the Gunners after an impressive campaign last time out.
It is unclear if it came from Arsenal but Bild reports Mainz rejected an offer in the region of £31m for the midfielder.
“Jean-Philippe is not on the market”, sporting director Rouven Schroder insisted.
“We too have some ambitions and he is a big part of our plans for the new season.”
Gbamin has three years remaining on his current deal with the Bundesliga outfit.

The 19-year-old midfielder only joined the Gunners from FC Lorient this summer, but already looks to have settled in at the club.
The teenager started in the middle of the park in Arsenal’s 5-1 demolition of his former side Paris Saint-Germain on the weekend, meaning he has featured in all three of the north London club’s pre-season friendlies.
Guendouzi is now itching to be a part of the first team going into the new season, and has sent Unai Emery a message of his intent.
Bellerin on Emery improvements
The right-back recently joined his Arsenal team-mates on their pre-season tour of Asia as one of the senior players on the trip, despite still only being 23.
And it seems the loyal right-back, who recently made it clear he has no intention of leaving Arsenal anytime soon, is on board with the new direction Emery is taking the club.
“As I said the other day, it’s all about learning the new system, about getting used to each other again and used to the new players,” Bellerin told Arsenal Player.
