Dennis Quaid and Cloris Leachman star in the true-life story from the ‘Woodlawn’ directors.
Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions has picked up the North American rights to faith-based feature I Can Only Imagine.
Dennis Quaid and Cloris Leachman star in the Jon and Andrew Erwin-directed drama, along with Priscilla Shirer, Madeline Carroll and J. Michael Finley.
I Can Only Imagine follows the true story of Bart Millard, the lead singer of the Christian band MercyMe, and how he wrote what is now the most played radio single in Christian music history.
Kevin Downes, Cindy Bond and Daryl Lefever are producing. The Erwin brothers are responsible for other faith-based fare, including Woodlawn.
The movie will be released on March 16, 2018, opening opposite the Tomb Raider reboot.
“Coming on the heels of our faith-based box office hit The Shack, I Can Only Imagine will touch audiences everywhere. We are very excited to bring this wonderful story to the big screen,” said Lionsgate president of acquisitions and co-productions Jason Constantine.
Added Roadside Attractions co-presidents and co-founders Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff: “The Erwins bring world-class storytelling and production values to faith-based films. It’s no surprise they have attracted such a phenomenal cast to their latest feature. We are thrilled to be bringing it to theatrical audiences nationwide.”
